Radio Shows

This section of the website contains tracklists and other information about the different radio shows done by the Dewaele brothers. I have also added some other mixes that are not strictly radio shows, but were used as source for a number of bootlegs as well.

Hank The DJ was the original radio show that ran in 1999-2000. The show was conceived by Mark Coenen who was a producer at Studio Brussel back then. The original concept was to be a mixture of spoken word recordings set to music, much in the style of “My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts” by Brian Eno and David Byrne. Shows were made by several artists, including the Dewaele brothers, DJ 4T4,

Hang The DJ was the successor of Hank The DJ and ran from 2001-2002. I’m not sure if by then it was only the Dewaeles or if there were other people doing episodes. In the 2003 re-runs there are many episodes labeled Hang The DJ by Praga Khan and others, but I’m not sure if they were part of the original series.

On Christmas Day 2001, BBC aired a 2-hour Hang The DJ mix. Fragments of different Hang The DJ episodes were put together into one seamless mix by 2manydjs themselves. This mix would later be bootlegged as As Heard On Radio Soulwax pt. 1 (first hour) and pt. 3 (second hour).

Then there are a number of other shows that are part of the Hang The DJ series and done by 2manydjs, but I’m not sure if they were present in the original airing. The re-runs in 2003 did include them alongside the other Hang The DJ shows, but voices on the Internet say these shows came later, or weren’t aired on Studio Brussel. Interestingly, fragments of #1 and #4 show up in the Christmas mix they did for the BBC. Either these were aired before Christmas and they reused the parts, or parts of the Christmas mix were reused to create those new episodes. Anyway, I’m including them here as “More Hang The DJ” and will move them around in the future if I find more information about the original schedule.
